La Maison Luciole

You are an heir

You don’t need to travel back to make decisions.

Clearing a parent’s home when you live at the other end of the country, or abroad, takes weeks of leave, repeated trips and difficult decisions made alone and in a hurry. We do the work on site. You keep the decisions.

What you need to do

Three moments, and that’s all.

At the start: approve the scope

You review the quote, you sign, you hand us the keys. We take it from there. If several heirs are involved, one of you is appointed lead heir: they are the one who will approve the final report.

In the middle: decide item by item

Each item is shown to you on its own, with its photograph. Keep, sell, donate or recycle: four possible answers. You go at your own pace, stop, and pick up again the next day. Nothing is lost.

At the end: approve the report

You review the document intended for your notary. It is only delivered to them once you have agreed. Proceeds from sales are paid out to you by the notary.

Common situations

If your situation looks like one of these

I live abroad and cannot travel

That is the most common case. The whole process takes place online: you receive personal access, browse the photographed inventory and decide from home, whatever your time zone.

The items you wish to keep can be shipped to you, or handed to a relative you designate.

There are several of us and we don’t agree

Each heir gives their view separately, item by item. Everyone’s positions are displayed side by side, and an item on which disagreement remains stays on hold: nothing is decided for you.

Your project manager helps you resolve the sticking points. If you have appointed a lead heir by written mandate, they make the final call.

I’m not comfortable with computers

You don’t have to use them. Your project manager calls you, presents the items, takes down your decisions and enters them for you. Each choice is confirmed to you in writing, so that you can check and correct it.

The home contains valuable items, or items I believe to be valuable

Jewellery, artworks, silverware and any piece above an agreed threshold each get their own photographed record, with an indicative value and its source. We can bring in an expert.

These values remain indicative: a legally binding value is the responsibility of the auctioneer, the judicial officer or the notary.

I’m afraid of family keepsakes being lost

Nothing leaves the home without a decision from you. Albums, letters and items of sentimental value are identified as such and handled separately. You can ask for them to be sent to a relative, with proof of delivery.

A photographic record of the home is also made before it is cleared. It is yours to keep.

There are papers, a safe, cash

These are logged separately from the contents inventory, with reinforced traceability: what they are, where they are kept, and a documented handover to the authorised person or to the notary’s office.

No personal document is digitised without your written instruction.

Your data

What we keep, and for how long

Your file is kept separate: contributors only see the mission they are authorised for, and every access is individual and logged. Data and backups are hosted in the European Union.

The principle is transit, not archiving. When the mission closes, your data is returned or deleted within the period agreed in the contract. You can ask at any time for a full export of your file in an open format, readable without our tool.

Let’s talk about your file

Where the home is, what stage the estate has reached, what worries you. A few lines are enough.
